Book launches are rarely exciting. The odd murder tends to spice things up a bit, though.

When famous novelist Rupert Pearson's PA doesn't turn up for his book launch at the Freemason's Arms, he's more annoyed than upset. He certainly didn't expect someone to find her face-down in a ditch.

For Kempston Hardwick, dead PAs are business as usual. Unfortunately. At least there are lots of excuses to visit the pub.

But why had she made so many enemies? Why are the police so keen to fit up an innocent man? And where did Doug's pickled onions go?

Kempston Hardwick is most definitely a quirky character, and it took me until book 2 to be enthralled by him and his sidekick Ellis Flint. I’m now hooked and when lockdown is getting me down, he is the perfect antidote. The Wrong Man is a fab story, well thought out and executed. There has been a murder and Kempston is convinced they have the wrong man in custody so in his own inimitable fashion, he sets out to ensure the right person is brought to justice. Brilliant, simply brilliant!

I love all Adam's books and this one is up there with the rest of them as being absolute brilliant. Kempston is a unique investigator, who, together with his associate Ellis manages to get to the bottom of even the most complex mystery while the rest of us are still scratching our heads. Adam tells us everything that is happening as Kempston discovers it but keeps just enough back to hold our interest to the very end. There are no unnecessary red herrings, just really clever story telling. I can't recommend this book highly enough. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading. Bring on the next one Adam.
