I read 'Her last tomorrow' by the same author and loved it and have started on the 'Knight and Culverhouse' series and have been captivated by the strength of characters, the well developed story lines and the plot twists. I was at first hesitant about buying a novella as I usually find that even the best authors can struggle with short stories. I was delighted to discover that Mr. Croft is the exception. I read this book from cover to cover in one sitting and was left wanting more with a great plot twist which seems to be his trade-mark. Looking forward to more of the same!!!

Short story that has a rare skill of revealing plot in a gradual manner, similar to how you get to know people in real life.Told in the first person, Stephen examines his routine life, returning home, to a place that now has even more significance, since his girlfriend moved in with him.The story revolves around the nightmare scenario of a missing person; Stephen discovers when arriving home that Anya, his soulmate, has disappeared and removed almost, every trace of her former life with him.As readers we deal with these issues. What would we do, how calm would be when the police follow guidelines and procedures in such cases? For Stephen it is an added strain, lacking support and now feeling deserted by Anya his life unravels before us.

A great short story with all the requirements of a missing/mystery novella.Recommended to anyone who likes this genre, and, of course, to Adam Croft fans. If you don't know him this is a good introduction to his books.Although we don't really get to know them, there's something about the cops in this story that appeals to me: I think there's a series in there somewhere.Oh, and at just 99p, how can you miss this!

This is a non-stop mystery/thriller that will have you guessing every step of the way. The protagonist, and unreliable narrator, Stephen Lightfoot, is a well constructed character who is full of hidden depths. Gone is a short and straight to the point novella that is impossible to put down. Croft's descriptions are believable and highly relatable throughout, keeping the story well and truly grounded in reality. Everything from the characters to their personalities and traits are disturbingly accurate. Expect the unexpected...Dylan Butcher. (Writer)

The suspense of where she is, and is she still alive? Every chapter read makes you believe you have the answer, but do you? Not until the very end do you find out the answer, the truth. Couldn't put this book down until l had found the answer. L don't want to write in detail as would spoil this story for future readers. Like many of Adam Croft books, so believable and captivating.
