In Plain Sight
In Plain Sight
A trail of death. A web of corruption. The ultimate betrayal.
A series of armed robberies on local petrol stations leaves Mildenheath CID chasing their tails. But things are about to get a whole lot worse.
When an elderly woman is killed during an armed raid on her jewellery shop, Knight and Culverhouse realise one of their own is involved — a police officer.
With the future of Mildenheath CID at stake and the lives of their loved ones under threat, time is running out — fast.
As they begin to investigate the web of corruption, they discover just how deep it runs — and how close to home. But are they prepared for the truth?
The stories are great and keep you guessing. The background of the CID characters is so good and his character is so funny and down to earth. I have nearly finished all these and I pass on to a friend and she passes on too so they get lots of reading.
Another excellent read, with a twist
Oh my day's, I love the K&C series and this is by far the best one yet. After petrol stations being robbed by mask men at gunpoint and conveniently no working CCTV to go on police are struggling to find the people behind the raids. After a local jeweller's is hit by the same gang with serious consequences Jack and Wendy are brought in to investigate. With Mildenheath CID still in the balance of bring shut down by the new PPC, Jack and Wendy have their work cut out to solve the crimes fast
It goes without saying that this is yet another excellent novel from Adam Croft. Once more we are plunged into the world of Mildenheath CID and the lives of DCI Jack Culverhouse and DS Wendy Knight. This is such an brilliant series of books that I don’t want them to ever end. This time we see Jack having to start looking closely at his team and try to find whoever has been helping his arch enemy, Gary McGann to stay one step ahead of the police and thus avoid justice for 35 years. There are plenty of twists, turns and red herrings to keep us guessing. In the meantime, Wendy Knight is getting ever more comfortable in her new relationship with Xav and Jack’s relationships with his teenage daughter Emily, and lady friend Chrissie, get both complicated and interesting. At the end of the story we get a slight hint that there will be just as much excitement in the next episode, so I hope it’s not long in coming.
What more can I say about Adam's books? I've run out of adjectives. As ever this book was a page turner from page 1. Adam writes with such feeling that you really do believe the characters are real and its not just a made up story. Always look forward to his next book and disappointed when i fimish it too quickly!
